It Won’t Be a Perfect Day!

When I meet couples for the first time, I often ask them how they envision their wedding day, what is important to them, and what they expect. Very often the answer is, “We want the day to be perfect!” 🙂 Unfortunately, this is the moment when I have to burst the bubble and reveal the harsh truth – it won’t be a perfect day! Many things may surprise you and not go according to plan. However, that doesn’t change the fact that it can still be a special, dreamlike, and wonderful day that you’ll remember as the best day of your life. It all depends on you, your attitude, and the awareness that perfection doesn’t exist. Below are a few examples of what might happen, but knowing about them in advance will help you handle them with ease and fully enjoy your day.

WEATHER
Summer in Poland is a real roller coaster! Sudden weather changes from African heat to tropical downpours can give any couple a heart attack. There are few lucky ones who get perfect blue skies, 25°C, and not a drop of rain. It’s important to see the positives in every situation:

  • Scorching sun provides ideal conditions for photographers, and you can be sure that thanks to good lighting, your photos will be exceptional!
  • A downpour guarantees that guests will spend most of their time inside the venue rather than in the garden, so you’ll avoid an empty dance floor and the need to search for missing guests.

LOST RINGS
Involving family members in the ceremony is a great idea. It’s incredibly touching when a little boy or girl delivers the rings. But, children being children, they are not known for their patience, they are curious about the world, and their imagination knows no bounds. It could happen that a slightly bored child will play with the rings, and one might fall and roll under a bench. Absolutely no reason to stress! The ring will be found, and you’ll have a unique story to tell 🙂

POWER OUTAGE
Following the first point, sudden storms and downpours are often a headache not only for residents but also for power companies. Downed power lines and outages are a nightmare for couples, especially in July and August 🙁
Dwór Afrodyta has its own generator, but when the power goes out, it takes a few seconds for the backup to kick in. What’s the positive here? The hall is decorated not only with flowers but also with the warm light of candles. Candles add elegance and a unique atmosphere, and even without general lighting, the room will have a very intimate and cozy feel.

Reading this, you might be thinking, “Yeah, sure, it’s easy to write about, but when it actually happens, the emotions will be overwhelming, and it won’t be so rosy.” Well, no. The examples I’ve given happened to me personally. On my wedding day with Juan, the weather was perfect until noon, but as the hour approached, the sky grew darker and eventually, there was a torrential downpour 🙂
During the storm, the power went out several times, and the presentation we had meticulously prepared froze halfway through. But none of these things diminished the magic of the day! It was wonderful, amazing, perfect… and I could go on forever. The most important thing is your attitude and a wide, sincere smile!

P.S. My godson was fantastic and very dedicated to his role of holding the rings, so he didn’t pull any pranks. But I (little Ola more than 25 years ago), a rebellious little girl, dropped my godfather’s rings several times XD.

I wish you a beautiful and perfectly imperfect day – Aleksandra Elcinto
